Jordan ditched his editors and it showed. He wrote a whole ass book and didn't include his main character. Sanderson had to write three books to tie up all the loose ends instead of the original one.

The show is doing pretty well, given that they have to condens 14 books into the few seasons they'll realistically get. (I'd be highly surprised if it's as many as five). Under the circumstances, I enjoy it a lot.

Haven't seen the show but read the entire series 3 times, most recently about 2 years ago. My take: Books 1-4: awesome 5-7: still really good but starts bogging down. 8-10: slows WAY down, with 10 being a total slog. 11: decent return to form before RJ died. 12-14: fast-paced, action-packed "wrap up" by Sanderson that lacks some heart of RJ's books.

It can be a slog in the middle but damn the end is worth it.

I have been working my way through it. I’m waiting in queue with my local library for book 10 to become available, which is taking some time. My single greatest gripe with the series is kind of also one of the biggest strengths, the theme of “battle of the sexes” means that mistrust, misunderstanding, and miscommunication is a huge driver of seemingly avoidable conflict. I think he also writes almost every female character as seeming obsessed with boobs, so a bit infantile there.

It becomes a bit of a slog the further into it you get, but it picks up again in the final few books and ends fairly strong.

I've been stuck on Shadow Rising for over a year, I keep forgetting it then coming back to it. Got through the other ones so fast, not sure why.

It’s kind of a slog slog from crown of swords until Sanderson jumped in, but VERY worth the slog. Might start a re-read soon.

My favourite book series! I just finished listening to the audio books.

Watches the first two seasons, now up to book 7. The book series is great, but the show is also great. Does some seriously needed editing and looking forward to more changes and streamlining as it goes along.
