My ancestors immigrated to this country from the 1600s all the way to 1940. But because they were white, no one questions whether or not I should be here or if I’m contributing to society. Now Haitians have come here to escape poverty and opression, just like my ancestors, but instead of welcoming and supporting them, one of the leading candidates for President and millions of other descendants of immigrants make up shameful racist lies about them. What has happened to this country?
