How can it be legal for dump trucks and other construction vehicles to just put a sticker on their vehicle to declare they aren’t liable for damage or danger caused by things unrestrained and falling from their construction vehicle? Does this hold up legally or are they posting that sign to deter folks from pursuing them / holding them accountable for damage they cause? (My car wasn’t damaged, I just saw this sticker on a dump truck at a stoplight and started wondering.)

However, they are not responsible if their tires kick up a rock that was already in the road and it hits your windshield. So, the warning to stay back, and they are not liable, does make sense in that context. Unless you have a dashcam showing gravel clearly falling off the truck, it can be difficult to prove if it was their load or debris already on the road.

6 小時內	Tanner Parson tman45678	Yes it does hold up because law states you should be at or over that 100’ follow distance and unless blatantly obvious how can you say that rock fell out of the dump bed and not kicked up by a tire from another vehicle

Even if you can see gravel coming out of the bed, as soon as it hits the road, which will be within 100' of the back of the vehicle, it becomes common road debris. If you are close enough for it to fall off the bed and directly onto your windshield, then you will be cited for tailgating, and again it is your responsibility
6 小時內	Dave Sienknecht syncnite	It reminds me of signs in restaurants that say, “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.” But putting up a sign doesn’t give them the right to break the law, like refusing service to someone due to their race or religion.

Fraudulent claims. I already know people will roll their eyes when I say this but, please increase your following distance. It will prevent SOOOO MUCH from happening. (Including rock cracks on windshields.)

14 小時內	Branden Marshall bad.preferences	I hate these things. One good (bad) highway bridge and if that truck is full (hell even empty) dirt and rocks spray all the lanes. Both cars I own have been unlucky no matter how far i am behind when i do see one.
