Talking with my mentor today: “applying to school is like making an art piece and the throwing it off a cliff.” I modified the idea: Applying to school is like building an airplane out of porcelain and hoping it flies when it leaves the cliff edge. Applicants put heart and soul into the process and so much is out of their control. In the face of unrelenting uncertainty it’s hard to trust the process.
