I had the exact same question and tried to find an answer for it.. Folks said that you change all your notification settings in Threads and replies to From people you follow. It turned out, when people you follow put comments on someone’s post you don’t follow, the post shows up showing the account’s profile image with + sign.. A bit confusing, but I think I’m getting used to it. 😆
