People often come to therapy hoping for relief. They want something to be better, or to feel fixed. They want an "aha moment".
By definition, sustainable change is incremental. It's small. It starts with a different way of seeing things, which leads to small steps diverging from what has been the norm.
Managing expectations, both as a client and as a therapist, is the name of the game. It took you years to get here. It's not going to change in a week.
