This fast is, ultimately, about distance in our relationship with Gd. It's a relationship like any other. How do we feel about ourselves in the relationship? How do we feel towards Him? What do we want it to look like? Like any other relationship, there has to be a few things in order to succeed, such as an acknowledgement of goodwill, and being open to receiving the love that's being sent your way. There has to be a baseline of trust Above all, there has to be a willingness to work on it.
