I assume you are talking about people in the US? Over here in Israel, it is quite the opposite: criticism of Netanyahu is only growing, not due to his aggression in Gaza, but because even amid this terrible time he is still acting in his own political interests in a very Trump-like manner: dodging responsibility, casting blame every which way, lying and inciting hatred. Forget the suffering in Gaza: Netanyahu is seen as the cause of suffering in Israel, where he is (supposed to be) in charge.
