Normal users use their macbooks to browse the web and watch movies, at most, doing some light excel work, school tasks or light office work normal users would use an ipad from 2018 if they shipped it with macos, that's why lots of $500 windows laptops are sold everyday macos like to store everything in ram, for good reasons, but it's not *really* always full as a windows or linux pc is full when it's using the whole ram

Those are not base level applications and use cases. Base level machine specs are not what you want. You claim to be an engineer elsewhere in this thread, so I’m not sure why you’re yelling at people. Is this a joke I don’t get? (And as others have pointed out, claiming the ram does not equate to making use. What you’re showing is an application’s claim, not its current ram requirements to meet current performance).

You don’t really understand how RAM works in the M-series… unused memory is wasted memory. If you had 128GB of RAM, Lightroom Classic would use in such case about 100GB, and then you’d be the one yelling at people who think 64GB Macs are enough XDDD
