Why do people live in Singapore when for the price of 1 shoebox apartment in a boring, parental city you can buy a villa+apartment in Bali with much higher rental yields and appreciation?

Bali is overrated and it's becoming more commercialized along the beaches, I went to Semynak beach 2nd time about 10+ years ago and it's fully occupied by new resort hotels The island getting more garbage prior to my first visit.

Because you have the privilege to do so. In Singapore you earn in either SGD or USD so of course living in Bali with weaker currency and economy seems “beneficial” to you, but some people don’t have that privilege, even for some Singaporeans and the local people in Bali. Also, admitting that you’re taking advantage of the predatory regulation of leasing local land as a foreigner for 99 years is a weird flex
