Top 31 Favourite Horror Films of All-Time:
25: The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) Despite some flaws (the dreadfully painful comedy relief bits) this is a genuine scare because of the docudrama feel, the unnerving narration, the setting of the 1940s, the gruesome way the murders were filmed, the flour sack the killer wears, and the perfect on-location lighting and set design. Ben Johnson as the Texas Ranger is perfectly cast. Less gruesome than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but equally scary.
