The name Scotland derived from an Irish tribe who colonised much of western Scotland way back. The Scotti. The original inhabitants of Scotland were called the Picts. They are always shrouded in mystery but genetically probably form a large part of the modern Scottish DNA along with the Irish Scots. Am I making sense? 😄 Just to make things more complicated, in the 1700s many people from Scotland were given the opportunity to have land in Ireland. Called the implantation, lots of people did so.
