Honestly it depends, if I don’t want it to contrast then yes I paint it but if I’m using wood then no I don’t. Really depends how I feel 🤷🏽♀️

I paint on wood panels and I paint in series and I have a number of colors, from black to brown to terra cotta to ivory that I paint the sides with, it makes the pieces ready to hang. I know it can look interesting to leave the sidea with the raw side effects of the painting process but the way I paint it usually just makes the pieces look unfinished or damaged. Way better to clean it up with a coat of paint.

No. My paintings get framed. That finishes the piece.
