The slope of the low cut can change a lot about how the low end translates on the speakers. Try different slopes (from -3db/Oct to -18db/octave) around 30hz and try to focus on how the weight of the kick changes as you change the slope. Also, the range from 90hz to 160 Hz, is often an area that is problematic, so be careful when you cut, cause you might loose part of your kick's even harmonics. It's a balancing act, and often a dynamic eq is helpful in that area.

right choice of kick and bass, check the phase, don't compress the kick, open the first harmonic of the bass, trackspacer, saturation/overdrive, low pass 100hz on the instruments, sidechain your drums.
