“Nobody cares.” I had just moved back home after living across the country and left an incredibly abusive situation where my life was put in danger. And moving home I wanted to reconnect with a support system to remind me that I am loved. And a friend at the time said that and it could have been as a joke or maybe not that serious but a mindset after that experience was really troubling and hearing that I felt far more isolated. It’s so small but it sat in my head for so long.
