Teaching your children to learn about what they're doing and learn about the world and learn about things is wrong where do you get this idea? If a person doesn't say what they will never learn why and if you don't learn why you don't know much of anything.

🙌 because when I call my children from another room they reply yes and come to where I am and when they have to say something to adults already having a conversation they say pardon me or excuse me mommy. It’s not that hard. We teach them please and thank you, what’s a few more manners?

I will say this…I think it is completely rude for sure and teach my children to respond with “yes”; however, it is never a child’s fault when they respond with “what” and the thing that bothers me is when people outright criticize the child for not knowing better when the child simply was not TAUGHT better. Some people do not consider it rude and I would never tell a parent to teach their children anything that I hold to a higher standard because maybe their values are simply different.

My black stepdad used to be seriously offended but being around my white family made me think his reaction wasn’t normal so I’m pretty sure it’s a cultural thing. As a 24 year old adult I still don’t get it because “what” is literally just a question showing that you want to know what they have to say while “yes” is a statement so it’s pretty backwards.
