The answer is 4, additional rotation needed because the small coin is going round the big coin.

the answer is 4 revolutions (as 3/4 rotations) of circle A. There was indeed 3 circumferences of circle A to cover that of circle B, but circle A would be at an upright position as seen in the diagram only takes 3/4 of a rotation to achieve...appearing at each quarter mark of circle B from the starting position.

To simplify let's choose figures for the radius and work out the circumference, I choose 1 & 3 so the circumferences are 3.1415 & 28.273 divide one by the other and it equals 9. Not too many getting this right, but lots convince they are....
