I work construction for BC Hydro and worked everywhere in BC. I loved P.Rupert. What struck me was how genuinely happy people were. People stood still and shared humour. You are a long way from fresh veggies and perishables are expensive. The island where I live, is probably more to your liking. Full of "Green Weenies" and tree huggers. Hard not to be a tree huggers if you get to the Carmanah Valley. If you can afford it the island PR would be where I am but couldn't convince my wife.

I grew up near Smithers, and still have lots of family there. Loved the mountains, lake and river. Smithers has a good amount of sunshine, but lots of variety of weather also. Great arts!! I miss the coffeehouses especially. Con is that it’s a long drive, or expensive flight to get “south”. Right now we live just outside the Okanagan valley.
