There are people who leave their cats home alone for a week. What are your thoughts on this. For me I would never do that. I would have a sitter come over daily a couple times or pay someone I know to stay with them.

Cats are pretty self sufficient in many ways especially if they’ve got automatic feeders and litter boxes but I would still want someone to check in to make sure nothing crazy has happened. Random injuries or illnesses can happen.

NO WAY. Even if I am gone for 2 days, 1 night, I always have someone that comes 1 or 2 times a day to scoop litter, play, give love and feed him wet food (in the evening - all day he has a feeder for dry food). When I’m gone for a week, I have someone staying in my home or I bring him to his favourite cat hotel. My boy is very social so so leaving him alone is just cruel.

People leave their cat alone for a whole week??? That's just irresponsible pet ownership!! I always hire a cat sitter or ask a friend (give them cash or buy them a gift as a thankyou) to pop in once a day if we go anywhere for longer than 24 hours.

My husband is military and I fly out to where he is stationed for upwards of a week at a time. I pay a close friend to visit my house 3x per day to either feed or play with them, and I ensure they send me a photo everytime they’re there. I also tend to invite them to just stay at my house. My next step will be to implement a pet monitor so that I don’t have to keep requiring photos.

When I go on vacation I have someone come by in the morning and at night. I also have guinea pigs so they need their hay restocked during the day. And my cat gets a serving of wet food in the evening. (I think it helps her stay hydrated, and a soft coat). Also cats get into everything. I wouldn't leave mine completely alone for a week.

Same , when I travel if my parents can’t looks after them I ask literally every one I know to at least check up on them once or twice until I come back. Like yes you can leave food and water for them but you never know when something can go wrong and they have feelings too

We always get a car sitter that stops by twice a day to feed them, scoop their box, & give them some snuggles.

Kitty should never be left alone for more than two nights. There are too many what-ifs. And why would you expect it to be okay without company? They are social beings who need interaction and enrichment.

I always leave her to the same cat hotel where she’s been there million of times. I can’t imagine what my cat or any pets go through when being left at home alone for days. They might be wondering what they’ve done this time to be abandoned with leftovers or with potential chances to starve/bored to death…
