Played a tennis match against a mother in her 50s. She was really nice to me, and I believe she was genuinely being nice. But, she made a comment that made me feel a little uncomfortable or self-conscious. She asked me, “did you grow up in Portland”. I told her I’m from Taiwan. She said, “oh, I had a feeling that you are not from here.” It’s true I’m not from here, but I’ve lived here for 9+ years. I consider here my home, but I’m also proud to be a Taiwanese. How should I feel about this?🤔
