Drive to Fort Lauderdale, Change your return flight leaving from FLL, see if you can make arrangements with the hotel you’re staying at to switch hotels, if they evacuate, maybe they’ll help you out.

Take a flight home now. That's the best answer you will get.

Grew up in Florida - those hotels have seen way worse thunderstorms than that baby tropical storm you’re getting. They all survive, they all stand strong. Talk to front desk - tell them it’s your first hurricane, ask how to prepare. They’ll advise. Get some food basics in case the hotel can’t serve food during it. Download movies/tv shows if power goes out (not likely, but possible). Get some drinks to enjoy yourself (if that’s your thing!).

The reason most people are saying “buy booze and party” is because yes - Clearwater (Tampa Bay in general) quite literally sees worse thunderstorms every summer than a Cat 1 hurricane. Storm surge, torrential rain and wind, you name it. The hurricane blows through, sounds like a nasty storm outside all day, and half the time, most people sleep through the worst of it.

If you can’t leave and you’re on the beach. Make sure you get a case/few gallons of water TONIGHT. Tomorrow will be hell trying for water. Non perishable food (pb&j/bread/tuna packets with crackers/chips), cash just in case power is out you can still purchase things. Not a huge deal but I under stand it can be scary. Have your phone charged at all times. Talk to hotel staff about evacuation stuff if you feel you need to.

1. Look to Jim Cantore of the weather channel. Don’t be where he is. The latest sighting was in a Wawa in New Port Richey, about 40 miles north of Clearwater Beach. 2. Check with your client or whoever you’re working with. What precautions are they taking? 3. Call your boss for advice. 4. With a hurricane coming, flights will be cancelled as they won’t leave the planes on the ground. 5. Make reservations in or near Disney. It’s far enough away. There’s no reason to stay on the beach.

I was on Clearwater beach at a timeshare a hurricane came through they evacuated us and made us leave …you may want to check your hotel protocol for a hurricane.

Pinellas County is under a State of Local Emergency due to forecasted impacts from Tropical Storm Helene. View the latest updates at disaster.pinellas.gov. Check for updates at least every 6-12 hours as storm forecasts and guidance can change quickly.

Better try to leave on Wednesday...with everyone else trying to leave. Good luck!
