Honestly, live is the only way I wanna record music anymore. Keeper vocals 6 feet from the drum kit is thrilling to me. There’s *so* much magic playing live in a room. Can’t fake the spontaneity & the joy. It’s a real-time language. I think a fringe benefit is that you get a better sounding, more cohesive & more interesting recording. Everything’s in context from the start & we’re all honed in on the goal. Is it hard to pull off? Fuck yeah it is.
