Imho if you go on holiday in The UK and you are from The UK that’s a staycation, the stay bit meaning staying in the UK. If you are not staying somewhere other than your own hpuse, that’s not a “staycation” that’s “not going on holiday” It doesn’t need its own word.

If you did not stay at your house, you vacated it, then you went on vacation- ie. On holiday. Calling a holiday in the UK a 'staycation' is just to devalue it and sell flights. 'Staycation ' and 'vacation' are from American English. You think a new yorker travelling on 'vacation ' to California has a 'staycation'? Of course not. He has a vacation.
一天內	Victoria Williams Cholewinski victoriasuzanne__	I've always viewed it the other way around. Taking a week off work but not going anywhere = staycation. I've been on holiday within the UK and wouldn't say it didn't count as a holiday! Although anywhere warm is a better destination.
