Of course you can, I once had to because my messed up old 1992 Mercedes 230E would not turn back on until it cooled down, so I had the choice of either leaving it running or parking it at the pump for two hours

I turn it off, I dont need to smell fumes as I stand by the tailpipe refueling, then imagine all 10 cars around you still on 🤷🏻‍♂️🤕🤮

I remember when I was young (early 1980s), my mom would not only leave the car running, but she wouldn't even put out her cigarette or leave it in the car. She'd be smoking away the entire time.

When I was a kid this guy left his truck running and went into the gas station I was waiting on the bus to go home. It was hella cold and snowing. I made a split second decision I jumped in & took off and went home. I parked it and left the keys inside. When I came outside the next day it was gone so I assume he recovered his vehicle. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I picked this habit up from a friend who occasionally stole vehicles and all we did was picked up homegirls & did donuts in them on Douglass highschool field.

All you have to do it touch the metal of the car before touching the handle of the gas pump. If you get back in your car while pumping, then touch the metal before touching the handle of the gas pump. You won’t blow up.

I think you technically can and 99/100 times you’ll be fine, but there’s a chance that an explosion could be triggered and that’d mess you up.
