Does anyone have any tips on how to overcome anxiety. It’s taking over my life and I don’t know how much more I can take. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I used EMDR therapy, EFT tapping and Meditation to overcome severe anxiety. I make bilateral music (as used in EMDR and Brainspotting) which you can listen to free on my instagram page. @oliver_widdaker Calming your breath would be step 1. Extending your exhales and nasal breathing. Write down your thoughts, try getting outside into nature, maybe some light exercise like walking. Maybe cut out caffeine, that helped me a lot. Rather than overcome it, make friends with, ie. try to cope with it. Depending on its severity & what’s causing it, you could try to firstly allow yourself to go through it (feel it), aim to see what’s it telling you (you might be scared or stressed with something), then try to close the cycle (possibly via grounding, breathing, walking/exercising, engaging in creative activity, getting affection). Please do contact your GP &/or psychiatrist, & a mental health practitioner. I work with both.

There are so many ways you can tackle anxiety. I recommend a whole person approach - diet, supplements, medication if needed, talk therapy, yoga, exercise, affirmations, meditation, visualization, and learning to reframe negative thoughts. Hang in there. People overcome anxiety all the time. It can be done!

Box breathing. Normally you inhale to a count of 4, holds for 4, exhale for 4, holds again for 4 repeat. It regulates your nervous system. When anxiety is high you may not be able to do 4. That’s okay, just do what you can keeping inhales, exhales and holds the same length. Take care 🩵
