The hardest thing is kids who have been so bullied/traumatized by their previous math experience that they are scared to try anything new or take any risks. Sort of a “learned helplessness” kind of thing. After that it’s a lack of prerequisite knowledge. Expecting kids to factor polynomials when they can’t multiply is wild.
