Gavin Creel dying of cancer at 48 is a reminder how absolutely garbage any theology is that has “God saved me / my loved from cancer.” No, God didn’t. And if God did, that God is a monster because the necessary implication is that that God abandoned Gavin (and my best friend Josh, and too many others). We’ve got to let go of the idea that God is saving some people and torturing others.
