one of my first jobs was working at a food stand in a busy mall. there was a super nice/cool older girl who worked the MAC counter in Nordstrom who would stop by for a snack during her shift. one time after a particularly nasty interaction with a customer, I was on the verge of tears bc I was tired and working a double. she came up to my register, looked me in the eyes + said “there are a lot of small, sad people in the world. don’t let them get to you.” I hope she’s having a good day :’)
