Little interesting observation in France: I feel like I get less of the “I want to speak French but everyone replies me in English as if I don’t speak French well enough to communicate” feeling than what people said, perhaps because they think there’s a chance I don’t speak English based on my looks. And they almost always ask me if I speak English before they do so.
