My husband is 1 of 4 groomsman in an elopement with another 3 bridesmaids. Apparently, they want to keep it small, so they said partners are not invited to the ceremony but are invited to the reception (hosted at the same exact place). Since one groomsman is married to a bridesmaid, it’ll be me and two boyfriends not allowed in the room and am expected to wait outside. We’re also flying 2 hours to get to this on short notice next week. Is this as rude as it feels?

Even if it’s a co-worker whose spouse you’ve never met, you invite both. My husband’s niece invited him and not me to her wedding so he declined the invitation, as that is how such matters were handled back in the day. And we never felt comfortable around her ever again and it’s been decades. Such rude gestures can have long term effects.
