It’s better to read the Bible, which has always been right prophetically and never changed. The Book of Mormon has been changed over the years to suit its leaders. It was either inspired by God the first time or it’s not reliably true. Besides, the Bible says you are saved by grace alone, not by works, which is what the Book of Mormon teaches.
