I don’t have kids but I do have dogs. Vomit and diarrhea I use clumping cat litter. Clumps to the wet making it easier to manage. Immediately helps with odor.

Folex! It's an unscented, clear, enzyme based carpet cleaner in a spray bottle. Works great on everything, stains and spills on clothing too. I've even used it on washable silk. This is after you've cleaned up the vomit solids of course.
