Because these people don't understand that this show is catering to the mainstream as well as themselves. Page for page recreate the books and you'll end up with a very boring TV show. I think they forget how much the human imagination does the heavy lifting in a book. Is it perfect? No Is it a good adaption of Tolkien's lore? I think it does a job
