So, when Her TErfiness became terfy, I had to start suggesting alternatives to Harry Potter for child wizard stories. For years I suggested the books of magic but now that's Gaiman-poisoned.... so what MG wizard series should I suggest? Wizard of Earthsea obv but I'd prefer something more recent. Wizards not witches cos different vibe. (TBH books of magic wasn't MG but I read it aged 10 so it was to me!)

4 小時內	Noreen Kelly ficklepegasus	Xanth series by Piers Anthony. Not modern, but each person born in Xanth has a special magical talent and the land itself is based on puns. The land itself looks like Florida. There are 20+ books in the series, I loved them in my tweens and even kept reading them into my 20s

14 小時內	Kelly Mangan heartnsnark	The Dragons in a Bag series is really fun. Technically witches but I personally think it has more of a wizardy vibe (maybe it’s bc the MC is a boy?). Good for younger MG readers.

16 小時內	faekpunk	Eric Rex is a good series and a bit similar too,, orphan finds out he has a magic and goes to a school in a whole new world to learn it
