I really believe that we can’t both mourn the fact that teens are growing up too fast and discourage activities that keep the child in them alive! Let them trick or treat! People like you keep them connected to their community for another year 🎃🎃 Let them be kids for as long as they’ll stay kids before they start pushing the boundaries of acceptable behavior.

I'm Gen X and my friends and I went trick or treating every year. I didn't stop until college. And I knew kids who went in college.

My 16 yo old wanted to walk with her 11 yo brother last night. Everyone was so happy to see her too and gave her a ton of candy. Nobody gave her a hard time thank goodness.

I’m glad that that didn’t happen to my group last night, we’re all around 20-23 and everyone was joking around with us and loved our costumes. It was wonderful!

I took my boys trick or treating last night, the oldest (just turned 13) had plans that fell through and although I felt for him I was relieved; he’s almost 6ft and his voice is deepening. He looks ‘too big to ToT.’ - not my opinion, but I know people judgements and expectations because he’s tall. I was dressed up but hung back and monitored. He was so sweet taking the 11 and 9 year old up to front doors, patient and polite and importantly he got to go ToT and no mean comments.

Thank you! I was 12/13 on my last trick or treating. My chest developed earlier than my friends and I was tallest in the bunch. Even with a baggy sweater the adults(mostly men now that I recall this memory) still gave me the up down and criticized me for trick or treating saying I was “too old” . There’s layers to unpack on that one there. My mom always said “she’s rather give the teens candy then know they’re out partying”

My 15 year old went out last night and he looks like a grown man 🤦🏼‍♀️ we gave to everyone even encouraged the teenagers who were last to pop back if they wanted seconds as this time of freedom in life is only brief we need to help them embrace it.

I had a teacher yell at us when we were 13, out trick or treating. I asked her if she would rather we egged her house or got drunk instead 🤷🏼‍♀️

No one is ever too old for candy at my house.. I was happy to see the older kids in my neighborhood!
