Reflecting on my first art show. If I’m being honest, I didn’t sell as much as I (or the gallery) hoped I would based on my following. But I think it came down to three factors: 1) The prices were way higher than what my followers and collectors are used to. My customer base is used to very affordable, digitally printed art. The most expensive art I sell on my site is a $250 framed, 2’x3’ print. These started at $150 for an unframed, 12”x12” print. (Continued in comments)

And not everyone is ready to commit to hanging a giant piece of neon art on their wall. We’re still recovering from the sad beige 2010s. 3) IN THIS ECONOMY?!?! People are not making these kinds of impulse purchases right now. The election is scary. Inflation still is/feels bad. I think people are afraid to buy an almost $1000 piece of art from an unknown in the fine art world. … or maybe they weren’t that great 🫠
