My toddler is beginning to understand that people shouldn’t touch Ava. So it was quite joyful when I said “nobody should pet Ava when she’s working” & Little One repeated with a loud chorus of “NO pet Ava! Ava WORKING” about 7 times. Little One is nearly 2. I often spend all day with toddlers who demonstrate greater understanding of boundaries and impulse control than many adults around a Guide Dog.

People will wait until I am occupied with my child or ordering at a bar or putting my coat on or any activity which means I’m busy. Then they will call to, pet or even try to feed Ava. It’s such a blatant violation of my and Ava’s boundaries. They’re putting their desire to pet the puppy above my safety & even my child’s safety. It’s gross and infuriating.
