I must admit. I've been around the scene long enough that it should be beyond me, but it still annoys me when live venues, especially lounge type venues, advertise: JAZZ *insert whatever noun you wish* ACOUSTIC/LOUNGE/NIGHT ...and the performers are featured aren't even jazz singers. It's as though the word JAZZ is like some big attractive marketing phrase to attract customers who fancy themselves classy. But these are the people that probably don't go to a single actual jazz show.
