The MarketPlace is not worse. Are you in a state that did not not expand Medicaid and likely a Red state? That makes premiums Much higher. We have a bronze plan for $163 a month for both my husband and I. It has a high deductible but pays for Dr. visits labs and prescriptions with small copay. You are not eligible to use it if your employer offers you an ACA compliant policy. It is a shame that people don’t have the choice.

Red State politicians (like here in Texas) have deliberately taken actions to make the ACA less affordable for those who need it most. Until they get voted out, it won’t change.

Employer sponsor plans will almost always be cheaper because the employer will pick up a bulk of the premium. But sometimes employers just don’t purchase good plans for their employees and the plans they purchase for us have higher deductibles and higher premiums per paycheck. Our insurance just sucks period here. As we get older, we notice.

Have you talked to an insurance broker who is licensed in the IFP market place in all of the plans in your area? A lot of small town markets are not licensed in all of the carriers so they’ll say you can’t do it because they won’t get paid, to me it sounds like that may be the scenario. Because $14.5k a year for health insurance is more than the federal affordability level for 2025 for 80k income. Each scenario is different with a multitude of variables, but I would talk to an agent at ehealth

I can’t imagine what is like to fear getting ill because you can’t afford the insurance and even if you do have it, you’re still faced with huge bills. Yet Americans seem to think that universal healthcare is tantamount to communism! Seriously, what’s the matter with you? I can have a baby and not fear the bill. I can have cancer care and not fear the bill. Our medications cost a fraction that you pay because no insurance is involved. I don’t get it.

Thank trump for the changes he made to Obamacare/affordable care act when he spent those wasted 4 years in office. John McCain cast the vote to keep it but they all signed his tax plan into law and we the people will pay the price until it expires in 2025. #Voteblue They also messed with our Social Security too and Project 2025 will make it worse.
