I've wanted to get baptised for months now but the thought of being "baptised into the church" puts me off.. Why do I need to belong to a specific church? Why can't I just get baptised? I've already accepted Jesus as my Lord and saviour, why do I need to accept any specific church as my church? Baptism

You are being united with Christ and in so doing you are united with all of those who are united to Him. So it isn't that you are becoming a part of a denomination but a local expression of believers. And at the same time with all Christians in history.

7 小時內	metallord777	If you don't understand the answer to these questions then your don't understand baptism and what it means. The Church is the body of Christ. Christ and his church are inseparable. We need to belong to specific church to grow in our babtism, learn to serve others in the body of Christ and use the gift he has given us.

Some churches require baptism as a step into membership, which is more about church organization within larger denominations. Many Christian denominations accept baptisms from other churches as long as it’s done as a profession of faith. So if you attend a different church later, they might accept your original baptism since it’s ultimately a personal commitment between you and God.
