If labels matter, she would be considered a hyper queen, which is a woman performing in drag. But i think she kind of transcends labels. She's a lesbian, Chappell Roan is a character, and that character performs in hyperfemme campy costumes!

Kinda…? Chappell is effectively her drag persona. Her actual name is Kayleigh but she prefers no one but her family and close friends call her that. Kinda like Beyoncé with Sasha Fierce? Tate McRae with Tatianna? But she’s ALWAYS Chappell when she’s performing, not just when she’s popping off extra like in the case of Beyoncé and Tate’s alter egos.

She is a female drag queen yes. She is not emulating, she is part of the culture.
