$200-$300 depending on how many edits you receive sounds normal for a family holiday shoot is normal in my area. Some charge much more, some less The $100 photographers might get you right but it’s a dice roll to find someone good who’s that cheap 🫠

It costs about $20 for a tripod. Go take them yourself and then see if it's worth the hassle. You aren't just paying for someone with a camera. You're paying for an experience- posing, lighting, set, expensive gear (my camera body without a lens runs about $2500), editing. If you don't want the experience, it is absolutely possible to get a photo with a tripod and an iPhone. To me it's similar to saying a pedicure is expensive. It is a luxury.

I charge more than that for 1 hour photoshoot and deliver 5 edited digitals. Additional purchase is available. The price depends on the photographer's photography experience, talent, quality and the session experience the client has. The same amount of session time can be $50 or $1000 with different photographers, but the experience and the result are not the same ;)

You have to consider editing time at well. $300 for an hour is reasonable.

That actually seems cheap because I saw pics for 15 min 8 digitals for $280 😭

That's pretty cheap for quality

I’m priced at $250 for 30mins. 5 edited photos. Not to mention studio rental for the customer to be comfortable. Let’s not talk about the uncontrollable kids that we have to work with because some parents don’t have control. Then there is gear and education etc…..Photography is an art for the customer to cherish forever.

I feel like that price is reasonable! I know several photographers that charge more than that for less time! It might just be an hour for you, but they also have editing time and you're paying for their expertise! You can always find someone who will do it cheaper though!

I pay $600 for a 20 min session with access to a full gallery of over 100 images. I love the photographer who does ours and she has a waitlist that starts in July. She has over 1500 families book her holiday sessions. But she has a team of set design assistants, shoot assistants , retoucers etc that she also has to pay. The help set it all up starting in August. It is all about the value that you feel like you get from it.
