Yankees fans, I have a hypothetical question.(thread) Hear me out. The Yankees are a HUGE market. Worldwide global brand. In theory they should be able to blow past any luxury tax and not care how much they pay players. Hal Steinbrenner however has shown a restraint in going after top free agents because of budgetary concerns. Hal is rich because he owns the Yankees. We see this in football with Jerry Jones’ Cowboys who are struggling similarly to the Yankees.

幾秒內	Kurt Wiegand k_ganders	At what point do we have to have the conversation that Hal and the Steinbrenners can’t afford the Yankees anymore? They are a big market team and should be leading the charge when it comes to setting player markets by a WIDE margin. The Yankees brand is built on greatness and nothing else. If you can’t afford to be great, you are actively hurting the brand. To be clear, I am not saying Hal should sell the team, but I think decisions made when money comes off the books could be indicative.
