mothersofthreads help. I am a 26(m) My mother pays my rent. In exchange i do chores for her. Make sure to call/visit etc. she chooses who I date Where I can work What kitchenware I can use. This has been fine - recently though I had a plumbing problem and she claims it was my fault (it wasn’t) and is threatening to stop paying rent. It was an expensive fix, sure, but this is ridiculous, no? How can I convince her to keep paying my rent?

You need to pay for your own living expenses. You should have already been do so by 18. It might not be your fault the plumbing bill came but your mom shouldn't have to pay for you at all at this point infact at your age you should recognize that she might be struggling financially and a good son would offer to pay her unexpected plumbing bill for her.
