I’m writing horror, action/adventure, and spec fic, and I typically write bittersweet endings. Feedback tends to be that readers weren’t expecting the “happy endings” I’m getting a little worried that other than romance, HEA’s are not expected anymore (what is this, the 70s?) Curious what current genre expectations are. Do I need to be getting all bleak and delete everyone? Personally I like the characters I’m invested in to overcome their obstacles and actually get rewarded for it Bookthreads
