I learned to punch from a guy who did it on tape. We did it the same way in Pro Tools. The trick is to anticipate & jump the subdivisions just a hair. Ideally you’re dropping in between ghost notes & it feels natural to the players in the room. Also can help to drop in on a pickup instead of directly on the bar line.
