Collecting vinyl is now a hobby for the rich. I warned industry folk about this, back in 2016. They didn’t listen then, not sure they care now. Consumer resentment couldn’t be higher. $50+ lps are not sustainable

It’s a shame. There are generations of potential customers out there willing and eager to get into vinyl collecting. But the exorbitant prices for new releases are certainly driving them away.

Still plenty of affordable used vinyl, you just need to know where to look. Having a broad taste in music also helps.

New prices have been getting steadily more ridiculous over the last few years. Record Store Day is he same & so the bubble was always going to burst at some point. I try and keep my prices (used and new) reasonable & won't stock overpriced new stuff as I think it's a massive pisstake
