Why is my rice always mushy? Serious question, asking for actual advice. I used 3 cups rice to 4.5 cups water, and used the Instant Pot rice setting. I’m buying a house, and plan on getting a real rice cooker, I promise. I’m just waiting until I move and I have a bigger kitchen. My butter chicken is lost in mushy rice and now I can’t even use the left overs for fried rice 😭

16 小時內	Megan Cavagnaro megsmonkeybeans	Others have already said it but I'll add another vote for equal parts rice and water when using the instant pot! And make sure you rinse your rice until the water is nearly clear before cooking.

16 小時內	Destined to be Great hope2succeed	Wash it until the water is clear. Water should not be higher than the first notch on your finger above the rice. Once the water boil at salt, butter, stir. Put a lid on, turn it down the low until water is gone.

Whenever cooking rice or trying a new kind of rice always start with 1:1 and if it's too dry then add .5 until you get the desired texture you want.
