I’m a therapist who still has trauma triggers, default modes to shut down/go mute/dissociate, urges to cope by using substances, and wants control when I’m afraid of being hurt. Healing isn’t about never having symptoms anymore. Healing is about noticing, expanding awareness/tolerance, soothing/comforting, and realigning with how you WANT to behave. Don’t get it twisted that healing = perfection.
