LOL in my neck of the woods, we keep it off out of sheer necessity. Our electricity and natural gas rates are so high that I was gone for half the month and turned on the AC for one particularly hot week (not even 24/7) and my bill was still close to $300. In the winter, I turn the heat on very sparingly and the bill is $400-$500 a month on average, which is lower than everyone else I have polled in the area with a similar size house. 😭
